IHAA Competitions - entry information
Postal Matches
The IHAA organises 24 straight track postal matches each year and some arena or polish track postal matches in addition.
These are open to everyone at no cost! All you need to do is set up the track as described in the rules and run it at home
or in your club, get a witness to score and countersign it for you then enter the results online!
Information about current matches is posted here and on our FB page, you can also find out which tracks are coming up so
that you can start practicing now.
European Grand Prix
The eGP is a team competition.Team selection and entries are managed by the IHAA member association for the countries involved.
Group A
Poland, France, Turkey, Sweden, Finland
Stage 1: 11-13th August, Norrtälje Sweden
Stage 2: 24-26th August, Gauchoux France
Group B
The Netherlands, Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, Italy
Stage 1: 30th June - 2nd July, Pomaz Hungary
Stage 2: 24-26th August, Gauchoux France

World Grand Prix
This postal competition ran in 2020 and 2021.
The competition will not run in 2022 but we hope to run it again in the future.

governing bodies of IHAA affiliated countries.
Anyone wishing to be selected to compete in these competitions should contact their national governing body who will be able
to advise them on selection protocol in that country and of deadlines to apply for selection for any particular event.
2023 IHAA World Championships in Horseback Archery Eventing

Regional Championships

2022 IHAA European Championships

- Dates:
- Mon 19/9 - Weds 21/9: Access to the tracks for mounted training (no tuition provided). Horse allocation on arrival
- Wed 21/9: Arrival no later than midday to allow for horse allocation and familiarisation. Competitors’ meeting Weds evening.
- Thurs 22 - Sat 24/9: Competition for everyone - for team results & qualification for individual finals
- Sun 25/9: Individual finals (1000-1400) & prizegiving (1530)

- Events:
- Main competition = T90, R235 & Hunt track
- Individual finals (top 10 for each of Junior, Young Riders, Senior, Masters) = 4 runs of Skirmish
- Rules: will be as per the IHAA rulebook
- Judges: to include Anders Wredendal (IHAA L4), Gabi Osiecka (IHAA L4) & Alan le Gall
- Eligibility:
- Entries from European IHAA member countries only (IHAA countries within both Europe and Asia are included)
- Countries have a guaranteed allocation of 4 competition slots for competitors of any mix
of ages (as host nation France is allocated 8 slots).
These spaces will be selected by each National Association - please ask your national rep if you have any questions about your selection procedure. - Further competition spaces MAY be available to horsearchers graded HA5 or higher.
Any European riders who are sufficiently qualified and have their grade officially listed on the IHAA Grading List can apply to go on the reserve list.
After the closing day for entries (9th Sept) people on the reserve list will be advised whether they have been offered a competition space
- Team event:
- Countries may enter with a team of 3 or 4 riders, of any age.
- If there are only 1 or 2 riders from a country they cannot enter the team event, only the individual event. No mixed (multinational) teams permitted.
- Individual prizes:
- will be recognised for the 4 age categories:
- Junior (-17)
- Young Rider (18-21)
- Senior (22-49, & 49)
- Masters (50+) *
- European HBAE Champion will be calculated with each of raid, tower, hunt & skirmish contributing 25%, as per G&C rule #18.4, for each age category
- It is permitted for those eligible for Masters to choose to ride in the Senior category
- If any of the age categories have fewer than 5 competitors, that category will be merged with the nearest category, before the start of competition

- Costs:
- Competition fees (including horse trials): €190, plus €160 horse hire fee (if required)
- Optional training days (Mon19-Wed21), per day: €35, plus €50 horse hire fee (if required)
- Extra days (competitors / extra persons) if staying in Gauchoux accommodation and using provided catering, per day: €35
- Extra days (competitors / extra persons) if staying on site in own tent / campervan and self-catering, per day: €10
- Food is included in the daily costs (ie. the competition fee or the daily fee of €35)
- Accommodation in a Gauchoux yurt / tipi is free, or you can bring your own tent. Other accommodation is available locally.
- There is no charge for transfers to/from Bellac train station - please ask if you require this.
- For people bringing their own horses: Daily cost (inc hay) = €5. You must bring your own fencing.
- Futher Information:
- At least 25 arrows will be required for the Hunt Track
- All competitors must wear riding helmets for the Hunt Track. Under 18s must wear riding helmets at all times when mounted.
- Entry Procedure:
- Competitors should fill in the entry form themselves. The deadline for entries is midnight CET on 9th Sept 2022.
- National reps must advise Alan of their selected riders (up to 4)
- For competitors selected to compete for their country: confirmation of competition slot and information about payment will be sent by email on / soon after 10th Sept.
- Confirmation of offers to extra riders (ie graded HA5 or higher, and over the national allocation) will be made on / soon after 10th Sept. These offers must be accepted, and the competition fee paid, within 48h or the slot will be offered to the next person on the waiting list.
