19.6 Protecting the credibility and the integrity of equestrian sport through prevention of
competition manipulation by athletes and the o ficials, plus athletes' support personnel
such as trainers, owners, grooms, veterinarians.
19.6.1 Match fixing, deliberately losing a match to meet an easier opponent in the
next phase of competition and the sharing of inside information are all prohibited.
Match fixing may be defined as: competitors deliberately, and without good reason,
not scoring as highly as they could to manipulate the results of a match. Or action by
team support sta f, o ficials or ground crew to deliberately manipulate scores.
19.6.2 In the absence of betting on horseback archery events the following points are
only marginally relevant but still worthy of stating.
Athletes, O ficials and Athletes' Support Personnel:
Must neither bet on their own discipline or on any other disciplines or competitions
of the Event, nor manipulate a competition, nor share inside information.
Must always report an approach to manipulate or anything suspicious.
19.6.3 Anyone who encounters or suspects manipulation at any time has the
obligation to speak out. Talk to someone you trust like your trainer, national
federation or email the IHAA directly.
