13.2.2 Use of archery equipment to whip on a horse is discouraged and a judge
should issue a warning for a competitor to stop if the use is considered inappropriate
13.3 Alcoholic drinks are prohibited in the start and finish areas, as well as in any area
that is being used for shooting or riding.
13.4 No competitor shall consume any alcohol until they have concluded their riding and
shooting for the day.
13.5 No competitor shall take any drug, whether prescribed or not, which may a fect
their ability to compete in a safe manner. For further rules regarding the use of
medications or supplements by human or equine competitors see rule #19.
13.6 Any person acting in an unsafe or disruptive manner may be required to leave the
event, at the discretion of the Head Judge.
13.7 Infringement of any provision of rules 13.1-13.6 may be result in a verbal advisory or
the penalty of an o ficial yellow card warning, the deduction of points or red card
disqualification (from one event or the whole competition). This shall be determined by
the Head Judge, who shall bear in mind the seriousness of the behaviour and (where
applicable) the competitor’s response to a warning. Competitors thus penalised may
appeal under Rule 14.
13.7.1 Judges will utilise the Yellow card and Red card system.
A yellow card accompanies a formal warning and will remain current for the whole
of a competition.
Continuation of yellow carded behaviour or a single severe rule infraction will lead to
a Red card being issued (or a red lag on the hunt track), ie. disqualification from
that event or the whole competition. The 2nd infraction that leads to a red card may
be of the same or a di ferent behaviour/area to the first yellow card o fence.
13.7.2 Serious infractions that occur at IHAA accredited or R&R competitions must
be reported to the IHAA. An individual may face sanctions for this, or repeat
o fences, depending on the severity.
14. Protests
14.1 A competitor may protest if they feel that their run was unfairly a fected by some
outside in luence. Such in luence may include, but is not limited to, undue distraction by
spectators or others near the track. A change in weather does not count as grounds for a
rerun.
14.2 Any protest under rule 14.1 must be lodged before the competitor’s next run. A
verbal representation is su ficient.
14.3 A protest under rule 14.1 may be lodged with any o ficial, who shall communicate the
