2.7 NON-STANDARD SHOTS
2.7.1 Other shots such as Merida, Kikac and Qabaq, are included within section 5
under Archery technical elements
3. Prior to the competition
3.1 Certain information must be provided to competitors and horse owners at the time
of entry so they may consider their horse's fitness and suitability for the track.
- approximate track length, if it shall exceed 1000m
- details of any terrain or technical elements
3.1.1 Any mandatory requirements for safety equipment (body/back protectors)
that di fers from the standard IHAA rules must be communicated at the time of
entry.
3.2 Well in advance of the competition, the organiser must communicate the following
information to competitors, so they may prepare their equipment appropriately:
- how many targets there will be on the track (or on the longest track, if there are several).
- whether there is a Merida target or Qabaq target, and the specification of arrows
required for these.
- a reminder of mandatory safety equipment, if it di fers from the standard IHAA rules.
3.3 Before the competition, the competitors will be granted the possibility of at least one
test run on the track in walk, trot or gallop. Shooting on this test run is strictly not
permitted (see #3.3.3).
3.3.1 The organiser must inform all competitors when the Hunt track will be open
for viewing/walking on foot and both whether & when horses may be led or ridden
around the track to familiarise them. The opportunities must be the same for all
competitors.
3.3.2 The organiser / Head Judge may specify a limit on the number of times horses
may be ridden around the Hunt track, at any gait and/or at specific gaits, in advance
of the competition. A penalty may be applied to those who exceed this limit.
3.3.3 Shooting is not permitted on the Hunt track in advance of the competition.
Competitors who shoot (from the ground or mounted) on the competition track will
be disqualified from the event.
3.3.3.1 Where there is pre-competition training at the same venue the training
hunt track route, and position and number of targets must be di ferent from
the competition track.
3.4 The Head Judge must conduct a walk around the course to talk competitors through
specific track details including the route in unfenced areas (#1.2.2-3), target scoring
where it is not obvious (see #6.1.6), any restrictions to where particular targets may be
